The OPC is a weekly event, challenging all to write and submit a single page corresponding to that week’s Elements. Any member of the Screenwriters Network can compete and post their entry in the #one-page-challenge channel on the server. While the page needs to be enjoyable on its own, it does not need to be a complete story. The Full Rules can be found in the Pinned Messages in the channel, so be sure to read them if you do not want to get disqualified.
For week #12, we are back with another GUEST HOST: Subeco is a well-known server member and BBC Writersroom winner, who has spend much time adapting books to tv pilots. For this week, Subeco will be the sole judge, sole decider of who will win.
ONE PAGE CHALLENGE #12
This week’s Elements (which must be incorporated) are:
- You must adapt a Public Domain property (see https://www.gutenberg.org/browse/scores/top or https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/public-domain)
- Your adaption must take place in modern day, regardless of when the original story is set.
- It does not have to be the first page of your adaptation
- While we say “modern day” it can of course be an alternative reality modern day if you want to add vampires or whatever
- It doesn’t have to be a straightforward adaptation – go wild, change up as much as you like from the source material – there are not extra points for being true to the source nor are there extra points for making changes, there are only points for being good.
Subeco has asked that you mention what property you have chosen to adapt as part of your submission post, within ||spoiler tags||
. Submissions are now open. Good luck!
If you would like to help come up with prompts, you can do so via the following form (full credit will be given!): https://tinyurl.com/OnePageSuggestions
